Accommodations*

On a case-by-case basis where appropriate documentation exists, students with disabilities, including students only receiving services under Section 504, may receive testing accommodations. The need for accommodations for students must be documented in the students’ current IEPs or Section 504 Plans. The accommodations must be used routinely during the students’ instructional programs and similar classroom assessments. For information regarding appropriate testing procedures, test administrators who provide accommodations for students with disabilities must refer to the most recent publication of Testing Students with Disabilities (published July 2005) and any published supplements or updates. This publication is available through the local school system or at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/policies/. Test administrators conducting test administrations with accommodations must be trained by the school system test coordinator or designee in the use of the specified accommodations prior to the test administration.
